The media installation ‘HEIMATGENERATOR’ uses this moment in August 2017 as a contribution to the Vitra exhibition series ‘Traffic Light Phase’ to refer to a controversial topic: home. The shape of the generator is reminiscent of a larger-than-life, surreal cuckoo clock: it has been collaged from numerous objects and pictures that were previously collected in a field study and reflect individual impressions of home.
In this way, individualised collages of our idea of home are created, which give impulses to indulge in stereotypes or to think about the origin of one's own images of home. Upon closer inspection, what appears to be a fixed place turns out to be the product of a complex, individual process.
